On the outskirts of Bhutan’s capital city, you’ll find The Postcard Dewa. Nestled in a forest, this Bhutanese mountain hideout is just close enough to take in the city of Thimphu, but far enough from the bustle. With no more than 15 luxurious rooms, the hotel is the perfect place to wind down in the lap of nature and enjoy pristine views of the Khasadrapchu valley and Wang Chhu River.
All of the hotel’s 13 rooms and two luxury suites are set against the backdrop of dramatic mountain vistas. Ranging from 995 sq ft to 2,100 sq ft, the rooms are generously spaced. Rich in natural light and traditional details, they even come with their own private sit outs from which to take in the surrounds. The Dewa Suite, our most impressive yet, even offers a private garden, terrace and an intimate dining gazebo - perfect for precious time with the family.
Mountains and monasteries make up much of the travel itinerary here. Take the lush hiking trails to ancient Buddhist temples or tour the capital city’s many sacred sites and colourful market stalls. But if you’re after some private time with nature, then our chefs are happy to curate the perfect picnic basket for you to enjoy by the Wang Chhu River.
The Postcard Dewa’s idyllic mountain surrounds make it the perfect place to slow down with meditation and yoga. Therapies at the spa include treatments that borrow from traditional Bhutanese practices like a hot stone bath, that’s perfect for sore muscles. Fitness conscious guests can also enjoy a swim in the temperature-controlled swimming pool.
The spread at The Postcard Dewa is deeply influenced by Bhutan’s culinary heritage. Gems on the menu include traditional dishes like Ema Datshi, Maru, and Paksha Paa. An emphasis on local produce ensures that ingredients like Red rice, Buckwheat, Bhutanese chillies, and river-fresh Mountain Trout make a regular appearance on the menu.
